 2018 Preview

Autauga Academy completed the 2017 season with a 12-1 record. The Generals cruised through the regular season with a perfect 10-0 record going into the post season. Last year Autauga Academy captured the region two title and a number one seed in the Class AA playoffs. They finished region play with a 4-0 record. Last year the Autauga Academy Generals reached the AISA-AA State Championship game only to fall just short of claiming a title. They were defeated by Escambia Academy in the State Championship game 30-20 in Troy.

Over the past two seasons the Generals have gone 25-1 and will be looking to continue that winning tradition. As one of the best football programs in the state since 2010, Autauga Academy has gone a combined 98-25. Their 80.0% winning percentage ranks 1st in Class AA over the past eight seasons.

Over the past 29 seasons, Autauga Academy has gone a combined 218-78. Their 74.0% winning percentage ranks 1st in Class AA and 2nd in the AISA. The Generals have been successful on the football field with twenty-six winning seasons during this time.

The Generals are led by head coach Bobby Carr who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 12-1 record in his first season at Autauga Academy. Under his direction the Generals have qualified for the playoffs once. They have won one region crown with Coach Carr.

Coach Carr's overall record as a head football coach in seventeen season stands at 180-30 (85.7%). His 180 wins rank 4th among active coaches in the AISA. Over the course of his career, Coach Carr's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of fifteen times and won thirteen region championships. Coach Carr won seven state championships prior to arriving at Autauga Academy, the last coming in 2015 at .

The Autauga Academy Generals will play in Class AA region one during the 2018 season. Following realignment, the Generals remain in AA but move from region two over to region one.

Overall, the region is among the weakest in the state. Qualifying for one of the playoffs spots could be a little easier.

The Generals enter the 2018 season riding a 22 game regular season winning streak. They have won 18 straight games on their home turf at Generals Field. While most teams rebuild during the off season, Autauga Academy has been a consistent winner the past few years and will simply reload this season. The Generals enter the season with expectations of not only a region title but reaching the state championship game. They are considered one of the favorites not only in their region but to play in the AISA title game in November. The Generals have succeeded in reaching the playoffs every year since 2002 and this year should be no exception.

The Generals open the 2018 season on the road against non-region opponent North Florida Christian FL on Friday, August 24.

This will be the second meeting between Autauga Academy and North Florida Christian FL on the football field. The Generals have a 0-1-0 record against North Florida Christian FL. They last met in with

Autauga Academy returns AISA All-State  kicker Cosmin Diaconu. He was named to the honorable mention team last season. The Generals also return  defensive lineman Elijah Elmore. He was named to the second team. The Generals also return  receiver Kendrick Rogers. He was named to the second team. The Generals also return  quarterback Tripp Carr.
